Getaway deals to amazing destinations!

As we continue to walk through this new reality of what life looks like amidst a global pandemic, it’s so important to focus our thoughts on the things that fill us and give us hope. One thing I know for sure…travel feeds the soul. And though it will look a little different moving forward, I love hearing from clients who are ready to start planning their new adventures. Below are a few of my most requested destinations and some featured resorts who are especially ready to receive you with new protocols & health and safety measures in place!

Santorini, Greece

Adronis Luxury Suites, nestled in the Caldera cliff with a heavenly view of the volcano, combines classic luxury with modern minimal style. The private suites are the ultimate in luxury experience and social distancing is a breeze because each and every room offers a separate entrance into the open air. Greece is one of the first destinations in Europe who are ready to accept visitors again!

Riviera Maya, Mexico

Eldorado Seaside Suites is one of my favorite all inclusive resorts as it offers some of the best food in the all inclusive industry as well as the most unique oceanfront infinity pool suites. That’s right, there’s a pool on the other side of your balcony with breathtaking views of the ocean! 24 hour room service included? You bet! Incredible complimentary anniversary packages too!

Is it too much to ask for a swing located above your own private infinity pool overlooking the Caribbean Sea? Not when you stay at Ladera Resort, located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site! With only 37 rooms, the Ladera staff has your ultimate relaxation in mind and can’t wait to have you experience what sets them apart!

What an experience this has been.

Who knew, just a few months ago, that this is where we would be in April, and now May 2020. The world has changed… And we have had to adapt to way more than we thought humanly possible.

Staying home is the new normal….for most of us. This is about the ones who can’t stay home. The ones who get up, get dressed, and have to show up, whether they want to or not… To do a job. A job to save us. A job that puts them right in harm’s way…for better or for worse. Every single day. For this I say THANK YOU. Thank you for risking your lives…Doctors. Nurses. First Responders. Maintenance. Delivery Drivers. Chefs. Airline Pilots. Hotel staff.

So, here we are. Learning to appreciate good health, the outdoors, family….what’s the one thing we all have in common? FOOD. This issue of Key Magazine Cincinnati is dedicated to the restaurants and Food Service folk COMMITTED to staying open. To feed us.

Please patronize the restaurants in this special Pandemic May 2020 issue of Key.

Carryout. Delivery. Curbside. The NEW normal. Let’s all make sure, when this nightmare finally moves on…that our favorite restaurants are STILL HERE to take our orders…feed us….serve us liquor….

And…a huge THANK YOU to the Key Sponsors …your generous donations have allowed me to Publish a great May issue with FREE ADS for all that are affected in the food industry that wanted to participate! I THANK YOU.

And to my amazing designer Jenny, you are my rockstar who makes this all happen.

The magical Shen Yun experience

P1

Shen Yun presents five thousands years of Chinese civilization in a live performance on stage. Through classical Chinese dance, breathtaking music, and gorgeous costumes, the show introduces an ancient world once lost. In March, the performance will be returning to Cincinnati.

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a nonprofit company based in New York. It was formed in 2006 by artists from around the world who came together with a mission—to show the world what Chinese culture once was. In China, this traditional culture has been devastated over 70 years of communist rule. In fact, Shen Yun is not even allowed to perform in China today.

But worldwide the company gave 500 performances in 150 cities last season alone. Across the United States and in Europe, its performances were regularly sold-out.

What makes Shen Yun so popular and inspiring? The name Shen Yun means, “The beauty of divine beings dancing.” Some audience members describe it like this: You can go to China and see it with your eyes, but Shen Yun lets you experience the real China with your soul.

At the heart of a Shen Yun performance is classical Chinese dance—and this company performs it like no other. This is an ancient art form with a history of thousands of years. Its explosive tumbling techniques combined with gentle elegance make it exhilarating and beautiful to watch.

The performance includes story-based dances, with tales of heroic warriors, colorful figures like the Monkey King, and legends that take place high up in the heavens. Other dances celebrate China’s ethnic groups and dynasties. The live orchestra combines Western and Eastern instruments, creating a refreshing sound different from any other orchestra.

Each performance includes hundreds of authentic, handmade costumes. The full theatrical effect is achieved with a dynamic, animated backdrop. It is like looking into a living painting, as the images interact with the dancers and orchestra in pure perfection.

Shen Yun’s artists, like the ancients who came before them, believe that art is meant to uplift and inspire. They incorporate meditation and study of traditional culture into their rigorous daily training. In their interviews, they talk about cultivating goodness and virtue. This spiritual grounding comes through in their performance, filling the theater with a sense of anticipation and joy.

Shen Yun will be in Cincinnati at Aronoff Center for the Arts, March 18-20, 2020. Tickets: 513-621-2787; Shenyun.com/Cincinnati.

Archie Rand: Sixty Paintings from the Bible

image

The Skirball Museum on the historic Cincinnati campus of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion invites you to visit its current exhibition, Archie Rand: Sixty Paintings from the Bible. Internationally celebrated artist and Jewish scholar Archie Rand brings a unique blend of expressionistic comic book style and loosely painting imagery rendered in loud, colorful tones to familiar stories from the Hebrew Bible. These visually stunning and thoughtful works are at the same time irreverent and serious, adding fresh perspectives to narratives that have shaped Western civilization.

In conceiving this series, Rand turned to two disparate sources: the language of comic books replete with speech bubbles and prints by the somewhat forgotten seventeenth-century Swiss-born engraver Matthäus Merian. In the case of a well-known story from Genesis, The Sacrifice of Isaac, Rand’s interpretation derives humor from distress. Prepared to sacrifice Isaac at the request of God, Abraham holds a knife. An angel bathed in gold hovers in a cloud above the distraught father. Leaning forward, Abraham shouts out “I’m here!” in a desperate effort to catch the angel’s attention, with the dialogue emphasized by large capital letters, an exclamation and double underlining.

Rand described the canvases in the series as “old friends of mine and they tip the balance in my art.” He went on to remark that “there’s nothing irreligious about these pictures. I mean, it’s exactly what’s going on, but they’re painted in such a way that they become available.”

The exhibition continues through June 28, 2020.
