Coming soon to Street City Pub: Unexpected! Bourbons and bites

Street City Pub has a secret…shhh! Enter through the front doors to the expected friendly service of a local pub but step a little further in and you will discover our new “Unexpected” lounge.

We’ve redesigned our interior to provide a new experience. You’ll enjoy a room full of inspired murals by local artist, Taaj Richardson. Taaj is a student at the University of Cincinnati who fulfilled his curriculum by transforming our lounge. Owner, Nelson Castillo’s vision for the lounge is to create a space for locals and tourists alike to spend their evenings chill and relaxed with good bourbon, good friends, good service and light bites. A livelier vibe will join the mix by using our new stage to bring you entertainment. Live music will be scheduled for Friday evenings starting this April.

Each of the three murals holds a story worth discovering. The center stage mural is a depiction of the main hall at the Aronoff center just across the street. The Aronoff is a favorite partner of ours and although we are differing industries, we complement each other to provide desirable destinations for your evenings. Extended from the painting is our own stage where we feature local artists for live music and entertainment. Start your entertainment at one and continue with the other, all within the same block, both feeding the soul of this beloved city.

The barrel mural is a reflection of the “Unexpected” transition of the pub to the lounge. Just as in the days of prohibition, speakeasies were often found behind the expected store-front. In our Unexpected lounge, bourbon is king and the rows of mural barrels showcase this. Consider joining our Bourbon club – coming soon!

Finally, Cincinnati has a renewed connection to our streetcar history with the reintroduction of the Cincinnati Bell Connector. The dual streetcar mural features a background image of an original car design with the current design superimposed in the center. The streetcar brings not only an ease of mobility to our city, but it connects what matters most – people. We are proud to be a stop along the line and delighted to serve the people it brings to our doorstep.

Should you hire a realtor when homes are selling so fast?

The real estate market is still on fire! This has many potential sellers asking themselves if listing their home with a real estate agent is necessary or not, especially when homes are selling so quickly. Here are 5 reasons you should hire an agent.

1: Larger networks mean more exposure. While “For Sale By Owner” (FSBO) is still an option for any seller in 2021, it comes with its own set of risks. Using your own network may cause a smaller pool of potential buyers viewing your home and, therefore, could result in a longer home listing period or even a less desirable sale price.

2: Take the emotion out of selling your home. If you love your home and have poured time and energy into it, parting with it may be overwhelmingly difficult for you. A real estate agent can provide unbiased professional advice and expertise. Without an agent by your side, your judgment may be clouded by your predisposed opinions.

3: Negotiation requires skill. When listing your home, you wish to sell it for as much as possible, and you may think parting with the extra agent commission will help you accomplish just that. On the contrary, according to the National Association of Realtors, in 2018, the typical FSBO home sold for $217,900 compared to $295,000 for agent-assisted home sales. An experienced real estate agent knows the pulse of the market, which gives them the leverage of knowing which terms are worth negotiating for and which aren’t.

4: Paperwork and legalities can be overwhelming. Your real estate agent knows the ins and outs of the transaction and will help you avoid future legal risks.  Local procedures can also be tricky to understand, such as knowing whether the buyer or seller typically pays fees such as the transfer taxes and closing costs.

5: Real Estate is a full time job. Agents often work atypical hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. If you are also responsible for a full time job, hiring an agent to to take care of virtually everything will make the process less stressful. They will handle all the calls, showings, negotiations, appraisals, and paperwork.

As tempting as it is to try to sell your home on your own, using a realtor can be more profitable and less stressful in the end.

Vacation deals in The Keys

If you’re looking for a warm getaway but not feeling confident about traveling internationally right now, I have some great tips to consider in the Keys! With cheap nonstop flights from many gateways in the U.S. to Miami, you can be out of your winter coat and in your tank top and shorts by early afternoon!

I recommend renting a convertible from National Car Rental at Miami Airport (make sure to register for Emerald Club ahead of time so you can bypass the lines and go straight to your car.)  Put the top down, crank up your favorite play list and make your way to the picturesque and charming Playa Largo Resort & Spa.

Choose from a nicely appointed suite or bring along some friends and family and upgrade to one of their exclusive beach houses with your own pool and private beach area. With three restaurants on site, you can enjoy a wide range of cuisine as well as incredible sunset views each evening. You are also within walking distance to a wide range of other great dining experiences, coffee shops and healthy eateries nearby.

If you’re looking for a little more lively experience, head a little farther south and make your way to Ocean Key Resort in Key West. Located at the very end of Duvall street, you will have everything at your fingertips! One of the best restaurants in town, Hot Tin Roof, is located at the resort and offers incredible cuisine and stunning views! Hot Tip: I just had some clients return and they highly recommend Danger Charters Sunset Cruise. $85 per person includes unlimited wine and beer as well as several different hors d’oeuvres and a fabulously fun way to spend an evening on the water.

Give me a call so we can put some HAPPY on your calendar!
