Do you have Pandemic Fatigue? Are you just DONE? Here’s your CURE!

Live life is gearing up from zero to 60!  There is cautious optimism due to the vaccines and cases lowering, in the Tri-State that live events are returning, quickly. Entertainment and events will have a different look and feel. Don’t worry, this is a good thing!  We have all had time to learn how to do business different but better.  Covid-19 abruptly upended our lives, last year and separated us from our routine and the daily events that normally runs our lives!   Every part of our life-work, school, dates, social gatherings, holidays, ceremonies travel, and events we plan for and look forward to, was taken from us.

The pandemic also devastated the sports, entertainment and event business.  Business owners wondered how to stay relevant and work in this new world.  As an event company owner, I can tell you what businesses have learned about you…We have learned that toilet paper is priceless.  We have learned the true meaning of essential.  We have learned how to zoom in our yoga pants and boxers. We have learned that you really miss dancing!

Its time to take off the yoga pants and put that party dress you didn’t get to wear last year and learn to walk in the tall heels again.  Have a funky Tea Party w your crew, rent the limo for a night of Romeo & Julieta smokes and swirl your Woodford Reserve, served in the best Glencairn

Glass, with your boys.  Go to that non-profit fundraiser that needs your support to help your fellow human. Get your party on.  Party like it’s 2021.

Your CURE is being a part of your community.

All about Osteoporosis

What Should I Know About Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a disease of the bones in which they become weak and lead to an increased risk of fractures, or broken bones. And people with osteoporosis will most commonly break the hip, spine, and wrist bones. While osteoporosis is the most common bone-related disease, it is often called a “silent disease” because it can progress without any symptoms until a fracture or similar injury occurs.

How Can I Manage Osteoporosis?

Increasing your calcium intake can help protect against osteoporosis later in life. In addition to milk and dairy products, calcium can also be found in most green leafy vegetables.

Vitamin D also plays an important role because it helps your body absorb calcium and can improve your bone health. You can find vitamin D in milk, eggs, liver, and fatty fish such as salmon.

Like muscles, your bones can also become stronger through exercise. Try weight-bearing or weight-resistance exercises such as walking, playing sports, or lifting weights.

Go to Louisville 2021!

My absolute favorite part of publishing Key Magazine Cincinnati is doing “research” for the weekend getaways!!! Researching for the stories is a blast…. this time… Louisville!

Only an hour and a half away and such an easy drive…there’s a fabulous city packed with history, great food, museums and sites… And bourbon!

First stop was shopping In the hip “NuLu” district with fun little boutiques and a nice variety of restaurants. We headed over a few blocks and checked in at the Homewood Suites Downtown….A relatively new hotel with fabulous rooms in a great location! Easy parking and centrally located for this getaway.

Time to start eating! First stop was Naive. We were fortunate to go there on the day of their brand new menu, and they wowed us with stunning cocktails and bites to eat! Tucked away on an adorable corner of Butchertown, they are cranking out fabulous food in a sleek and stylish decor.

When shopping earlier, we spotted this fabulous looking yellow house that is now Bodeguita de Mima, and is the most wonderful place. Cuban food with live music and impressive surroundings, every course was better than the last. Large portions and so tasty, we cannot wait to go back. We drank. We ate. We had a great time. Now, time for bed.

Thursday was our touring day. We started at the Louisville Slugger Museum, packed full of sports memorabilia and lots of history and facts about teams and players from all over the country. The tour was definitely worth it, and you even get to take a home a mini bat.

Lots to do, so we headed right across the street to the Kentucky Science Center which is an absolute must, especially if you have kids. They will absolutely love it! So many things to see and do to keep them busy for hours.

We spotted the KMAC Museum with an incredible gift shop that was packed full of art, jewelry, and cute gifts.  A small art museum above that had two great shows going on.

Now it was time for a bit of bourbon! We headed over to Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co.  for a tour and tasting. The tour was informative and full of history, and the tasting after was actually a large tasting. I highly recommend.

On to the Frazier History Museum for all things Kentucky! Jam packed with history and details and a must see for sure!

Food. Really, isn’t it all about the food when traveling? There’s this beyond incredible property just outside of town set on the beautiful property called Hermitage Farm, Barn8 Restaurant, owned by the couple who brings us the 21c Museum Hotels. It was Fantastic!  The entrance featured huge metal signs, to iving way to the mansion on the property. The “Barn” is an uber sleek, fabulously detailed structure that houses the restaurant and retail shop. Contemporary, farm to table cuisine that was yummy. Every course, every drink. After dinner we went out back to the extensive decking system that wound you around the stunning setting amongst the trees and creek…and after the sunset, an incredible light show. It was hard to describe, but it was similar to “BLINK” here in Cincinnati, set against trees, rocks and water. Literally worth a visit to Louisville for this dining experience alone.  OMG. seriously. GO!

After a restful night sleep we headed over to the Muhammad Ali Center and were taken on a private tour of this fabulous museum and cultural center. The history, details, surroundings, experience. The warm fuzzies you get being surrounded by all that is great about Muhammad Ali.  Be sure to watch the films showing in the Museum, he was a great man that changed the lives of so many. What a story. What an amazing experience.

Last stop…LouVino! There are two locations in the Louisville area, we over-indulged on so much food for lunch. It was good. Like really good.  They were in the process of building a huge patio for more outdoor seating. The place was great!

We dined, we shopped, we watched, we experienced, we drank. A successful weekend getaway for sure! Go To Louisville. It’s close and fun!

Coming soon to Street City Pub: Unexpected! Bourbons and bites

Street City Pub has a secret…shhh! Enter through the front doors to the expected friendly service of a local pub but step a little further in and you will discover our new “Unexpected” lounge.

We’ve redesigned our interior to provide a new experience. You’ll enjoy a room full of inspired murals by local artist, Taaj Richardson. Taaj is a student at the University of Cincinnati who fulfilled his curriculum by transforming our lounge. Owner, Nelson Castillo’s vision for the lounge is to create a space for locals and tourists alike to spend their evenings chill and relaxed with good bourbon, good friends, good service and light bites. A livelier vibe will join the mix by using our new stage to bring you entertainment. Live music will be scheduled for Friday evenings starting this April.

Each of the three murals holds a story worth discovering. The center stage mural is a depiction of the main hall at the Aronoff center just across the street. The Aronoff is a favorite partner of ours and although we are differing industries, we complement each other to provide desirable destinations for your evenings. Extended from the painting is our own stage where we feature local artists for live music and entertainment. Start your entertainment at one and continue with the other, all within the same block, both feeding the soul of this beloved city.

The barrel mural is a reflection of the “Unexpected” transition of the pub to the lounge. Just as in the days of prohibition, speakeasies were often found behind the expected store-front. In our Unexpected lounge, bourbon is king and the rows of mural barrels showcase this. Consider joining our Bourbon club – coming soon!

Finally, Cincinnati has a renewed connection to our streetcar history with the reintroduction of the Cincinnati Bell Connector. The dual streetcar mural features a background image of an original car design with the current design superimposed in the center. The streetcar brings not only an ease of mobility to our city, but it connects what matters most – people. We are proud to be a stop along the line and delighted to serve the people it brings to our doorstep.
