Happy Hour goes on all night long at Palomino

IMG_3222

Palomino is one of downtown Cincinnati’s hottest dining spots…and their Happy Hour is one of the hottest places to be after work.

The typical Happy Hour runs until dinner starts, but at Palomino, Happy Hour starts at 3 and goes until closing. And you don’t have to just nibble on peanuts and bar mix either – they have a full-on Happy Hour menu that will satisfy any appetite. Fish and chips, burgers, artisan pizzas, their famous Potatoes Gorgonzola, even gluten-free pasta; you’ll never leave this Happy Hour hungry!

And the drinks! Palomino is now featuring amazing signature cocktails, such as their Hibiscus Margarita and the ever-popular Elderflower Martini. You can order discounted wine by the glass as well as a wide selection of craft beers. All martini’s are half price on Tuesdays as well.

So a drink, a small plate and then what? A sweet nibble, of course! Palomino offers Madisono’s Gelato served with toasted biscotti…a great end to a perfect Happy Hour experience.

Come by Palomino’s, right across from Fountain Square for Happy Hour: 3pm to 10pm weekdays, and 3pm to 11pm weekends. Unwind from your day, catch up with friends and take in the ambience!

Silverton Donut Shop – classic taste from a homestyle place

IMG_2589Nothing wakes you up more than the smell of fresh donuts baking with a great cup of coffee. At Silverton Donuts, you can walk in first thing in the morning and have that experience 6 days a week.

Formerly in Pleasant Ridge, this old-school donut shop moved to Silverton about 5 years ago, bringing their made-from-scratch, retro-style donuts to the neighborhood. Owner Ron Jimmar is dedicated to his donuts, manning the shop 6 nights a week, making sure every handmade donut is of the highest quality. Fresh from scratch, from the donuts to the fillings to the frostings – nothing is from a package, everything is made by hand.

One of their best selling and most popular items is the Apple Fritter, often sold out before morning is over. Ron’s brother, who passed away 2 years ago, created this special pastry, and Ron enjoys continuing the tradition, with its perfect balance of apple, cinnamon, and the perfect amount of glaze. Silverton Donuts’ top seller is the Buttermilk donut; also popular are the cake and glazed donuts, cinnamon twist, the Honeymoon (a donut with a hollowed out center filled with cream) and the Klunker: part cake donut, part yeasts donut, all delicious! Don’t miss out on the Bowtie, a supersized “donut” double-dipped in the perfect amount of glaze.

It’s a small shop, but there’s room to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with your donut and have a little family time in the morning. Silverton Donut Shop prides themselves on their family atmosphere, and you can tell the community appreciates it too, because they’re waiting in line to get in before they even open! The phone constantly rings with folks trying to place orders before they’re sold out!

Also noteworthy at Silverton Donuts: they are Certified Kosher by the Cincinnati Vaad Hoeir, which is helpful in serving more of the Cincinnati community. The coffee they serve, Summit Coffee, is kosher as well. You can also place special orders for events….Weddings, holiday parties, birthdays, Bar and Bat Mitvahs…..you name it!

Silverton Donut Shop is located at 7414 Montgomery Road in Silverton, and is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 5am to 8pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 6am to 4pm. Get there early though….many days they sell out! Give them a call at 513-793-0567. What a find….the BEST Donuts in town. Promise.
