Prime Cincinnati and Street City Urban Gourmet are both located right on 6th street (across from The Aronoff Center for the Arts), with access also to “UNEXPECTED”….the premier speakeasy of Downtown Cincinnati! Be sure to secure your spot in this incredible evening gathering place.

Nelson Castillo, owner of Prime Cincinnati at 580 Walnut St. ( also Street City Urban Gourmet), recently opened Primo Middletown in the former BeauVerre Riourdan Studios Building in Downtown Middletown.

Primo Middletown, like Prime, focuses on USDA Prime, certified Angus Beef steaks, along with an expanded menu, including Italian dishes, like veal chops and Osso Buco…classics for an Italian steakhouse. Castillo also acquired a pasta maker from Italy which he uses to supply his restaurants, and also sell retail pasta. There are wine dinners with menu pairings, and a high-end wine list that pairs well with an Italian steakhouse.

Primo Middletown also has a secret speakeasy accessible through the kitchen, which features more than 100 rare and allocated Bourbons. Unlike Prime, Primo’s speakeasy also has a cigar lounge. A membership to either “UNEXPECTED” speakeasy (either downtown Cincinnati or Middletown) will allow access to both! Castillo is wowing the guests of Primo Middletown….it is fabulous…and a welcome new hotspot for the Middletown and greater Cincinnati patrons of fine dining!

33rd Annual Mardi Gras for homeless children combines fun with fundraising

Be sure to mark FAT TUESDAY, February 13, 2024, down on your calendar- you don’t want to miss the 33rd Annual Mardi Gras for Homeless Children presented by Mercedes-Benz of Fort Mitchell and the Wyler Family Foundation.

Produced by the Northern Kentucky Restaurant Association (NKRA), this fun-filled evening includes great food and drinks provided by over 50 local restaurants and beverage purveyors, live and silent auctions, with live music by Tickled Pink and the Beechwood High School Marching Band!

This year’s Mardi Gras court features Scott Sloan, of 700 WLW as King and Sheila Gray, of Local 12 News as Queen, and the evening features Tiffany Potter and JonJon Curl of KISS 107.1 as well as Sara Elyse of 102.7 WEBN as emcees.

All proceeds from the 33rd Annual Mardi Gras for Homeless Children goes towards food purchases for Bethany House Services, Brighton Center’s Homeward Bound, and Welcome House, Inc. This event has raised over $2.56M in proceeds since its inception, and the money is a true gift to these agencies, giving them enough to stock their pantries for at least a full year.

The all-inclusive tickets are available for $100/person providing admittance for the entire event from 6:30pm to 10:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at Mercedes-Benz of Fort Mitchell, all benefiting agencies, or www.mardigras2024.org.  VIP tickets are also available for $120/person, which allows early entry into the event at 5:30pm.

A Culinary Trip to Greece; No passport needed

Fillo is a modern Greek restaurant in Cincinnati’s Over-The-Rhine neighborhood that embodies the simplistic beauty of authentic Greek cuisine.

A simple gathering of native ingredients that burst to life under the Mediterranean sun and celebrate the little pleasures in life.

Each plate honors the iconic flavors and authenticity of Greek cuisine  — gyros, olives, feta, olive oil, tzatziki, meze and baklava, to name a few.

Harvested in Greece.

Baked Fresh in Cincinnati

Fillo embodies the simplistic beauty of authentic Greek pastries; a simple gathering of native ingredients nestled within layers of carefully crafted phyllo dough, baked to a myriad of delicious golden hues.

We believe our journey must begin at the very place where these savory and sweet goods have been embraced by locals for centuries– Greece.

For your next evening out….Fillo Modern Greek is an absolute MUST!

Fabulous food…cocktails…ambience.

Expect the Unexpected

A new Cincinnati bar is giving people a taste of what it was like during Prohibition.

Unexpected is a new speakeasy-style bar located in Prime Cincinnati, a downtown steakhouse, and it’s now open to the public.

To access the speakeasy, guests must enter through Prime and inquire about Unexpected. They then will be escorted through a back hallway featuring murals painted by an anonymous local artist and led through a secret bookcase entrance, according to DJ Webster, a manager at Prime.

If you’re looking for a late-night social experience geared toward the individual with a ripened palate who desires a sophisticated locale – look no further!

You’ll be lead through a back hall way featuring murals painted by a local artist and through a secret bookcase entrance.

“You’re going through the back hallway, you’re going through the back door, you go through the secret bookcase, and then when you get to the speakeasy, all the lights are very dim there’s different colored lamps on the tables. There’s live music. So it’s really a chill, like very lounge type bar vibe,” Assistant General Manager Sebastian Castillo said.

The bar features dozens of unique bourbons, some you can only find within the speakeasy.

Right now, there is no cover fee to get in but they do have a membership program where guests get access to monthly tastings and other exclusive events.
